About Me

As a former university teacher in Poland and an Advisory Teacher in Cambridgeshire, Gosia is now offering consultancy services including first language assessments, training and development courses (CPD) and teaching of English and Polish to non-native speakers.

Gosia is actively seeking out innovative ways and best practice in the acquisition of these languages. Working with a number of Associates she can offer a wide range of consultancy services.

She has experience and an understanding of specific issues related to the achievement of new migrant pupils including the diversity of community groups, their needs and barriers to education. As a native Polish speaker she has worked with the Polish, Lithuanian, Latvian, Russian, Turkish, Hungarian and Chinese children in primary and secondary schools – EYFS-KS4.

She can offer First Language Assessments with Polish children on her own or in other languages with the assistance of bilingual assistants.

Gosia continues to be an EAL teacher and coordinator in a Cambridgeshire secondary school one day a week. Utilising her first-hand experience she can offer consultancy advice on best EAL practice to senior and middle management, EAL coordinators, subject leads and classroom teachers and assistants. This can include practical teaching with a wide range of resources.

This can include advising on the national guidance relevant to the education of children and young people from BME groups and to those with English as an additional language. This includes developing effective strategies for supporting the acquisition of English as an additional language within the mainstream context.

“Off the shelf” or customised CPD courses of various durations can also be offered.

One-to-one or group sessions can be held for both adults or children in English and Polish.

Gosia can also offer face-to-face and remote interpretation in Polish-English.
